After serving as acting dean of commerce, David Wicks was appointed to the top job at the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s July 1, 2006. Wicks has been instrumental in the growth of the Sobey School of Business since arriving at Saint Mary’s in 1996. He was an assistant professor, chair and associate professor in the Department of Management. He has been active in creating new ventures for the Sobey School of Business around the world.

Wicks has been active in teaching and researching a number of unique areas that encompass the study of commerce which include organizational behaviour, strategic management, leadership, business policy and strategy, and qualitative research methods.

In 2003, he won the Teaching Excellence Award from the MBA Students Society at Saint Mary’s and a year earlier he was awarded Professor of the Year from the Sobey School of Business Student Society.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Honours) from Carleton University and earned his MBA and PhD. from the Schulich School of Business at York University.
