
Angus Reid’s name has been synonymous with social research for more than 20 years. Currently president and CEO of Vancouver-based marketing and public affairs consultancy Angus Reid Consultants and CEO of Vision Critical, Reid was founder and CEO of the Angus Reid Group, a market research supplier. Under his direction, the company grew into the largest research enterprise in Canada, with North American revenues of $60 million. It was sold to Ipsos SA in 2000.
A speaker, commentator and author, Reid’s 1996 Shakedown: How the New Economy is Changing our Lives was a Canadian best seller. He has served as a member of the advisory board of Nestlé Canada and currently serves on Carleton’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs Advisory Board, as well as the boards of Rick Hansen Enterprises and Cityfone Communications. Reid is also founding chairman of the Advisory Board of the Canada Institute of the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington, DC. Among his philanthropic activities, Reid directs the Angus Reid Foundation and serves as Chair of the CKNW Children’s Fund.
Carleton University Alumni Association presented Reid with the 1991 A.D. Dunton Alumni Award of Distinction. He is also the recipient of a Canada Council Doctoral Fellowship, the National Health Research Scholar Award, Entrepreneur of the Year Award (Services Category), Annual Award of Distinction from the Canadian Public Affairs Association, and the Marketer of the Year Award from the BC Chapter, American Marketing Association. In January 2010, Marketing Magazine named Reid to its Marketing Hall of Legends which honours Canadians who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of excellence in the field of marketing.
Reid holds honorary doctorates from the University of Manitoba (1996, Simon Fraser University (2002), and Carleton University (2008).
