A lecturer in the Sprott School of Business, Al Pilcher is a two-time Olympic athlete who holds the best-ever result for a Canadian at the World Championships in cross country skiing.

Pilcher, a member of Canada’s national team from 1984 to 1992, competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympic Games in relay and 15- and 30-kilometer races. At the World Championships in Lahti, Finland, in 1989, his 7th place finish in the 50-kilometer race set the bar for Canadians and has yet to be surpassed. He was twice the Canadian Nordic Champion and the North American Nordic Champion.
