André Picard , BJ / 97

André Picard graduated from the Carleton University School of Journalism in 1987. Three days after classes ended, he began work at The Globe and Mail, where he has remained since and is currently their health reporter and columnist.

André has received much acclaim for his writing and his dedication to improving healthcare. He is a six-time nominee for the National Newspaper Award, Canada’s top journalism prize. In 2010, he was named the country’s top newspaper columnist.

Among his other accolades, André was named the top health reporter in the Americas by the Pan-American Health Organization and as a “Public Health Hero” by the Canadian Public Health Association.

In addition to his day job, André is currently the CIBC Scholar-in-residence at the Conference Board of Canada, where he is writing a book on healthcare reform.
