Susan Ormiston is a correspondent for news and documentaries on CBC’s The National. She can also be seen and heard guest hosting CBC’s top radio and television programs such as News Sunday, News Morning, The Current and As It Happens.

Whether reporting from hotspots such as Afghanistan and Israel and Lebanon, or covering elections at home and abroad—such as 1994’s first free elections in South Africa—Ormiston has travelled widely over the last 25 years.

In 1996, she received a Gemini award for a documentary on multiculturalism; she has also been nominated for several other awards, and won four RTNDA awards.

Ormiston got her broadcasting start at the CBC, leaving for 10 years to CTV as a correspondent/host of WFive. A scholarship recipient and varsity volleyball player while at Carleton, Ormiston was later a member of the President’s Alumni Recruiting Council in the 1990s.
