Patrick O’Reilly , BCom / 92

O’Reilly joined the public service in 1992 as a human resources officer and later as a policy analyst and researcher with Indian and Northern Affairs Canada. There he worked his way to director of Human Resources and director of Corporate Services. After a move to the Privy Council Office, and two years serving the cabinets of prime minister Chretien, O’Reilly became director of Portfolio Affairs at the Department of Canadian Heritage. He joined the Department of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness in 2005 as director general and secretary of the DM Committee on Justice, Security and Human Rights, later taking on the role of director general, Strategic Policy and Citizen Engagement. He returned to Canadian Heritage in February 2007.

In October 2008, O’Reilly was appointed chief operating officer of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Former CUAA representative on Carleton’s Board of Governors, Patrick O’Reilly was also a member of the CUAA executive, on which he previously served as a vice-president.
