Mezzo-soprano Julie Nesrallah débuted as Isabella in Pacific Opera Victoria’s 1997 production of L’Italiana in Algeri and in 1998 was awarded the prestigious Emerging Artists Grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. Since then, Nesrallah has continued to astound audiences with her voice, win awards, and be cast in principal roles by leading opera companies across North America and abroad.

Whether on the opera stage, performing oratorio, recital or symphonic works, cabaret, or Argentine tangos, Nesrallah is a versatile singer and actress. As part of a duo with classical guitarist Daniel Bolshoy, Nesrallah has performed across Canada and released the recording España. She has also recorded with harpist Caroline Léonardelli and the Molinari String Quartet.

“Anytime anyone asks me what it was like to study music at Carleton, I tell them it was one of the best educational experiences of my life on so many levels,’ says Nesrallah. “There is so much musicological magic happening on the hidden 9th floor of the Loeb Building! When I graduated, I felt like I stepped into the world well-educated and truly inspired.”
