
Jack Lightstone begins his five-year term as Brock University’s fifth president on July 1, 2006. Previously, he was a professor of religion and associate chair in Quebec and Canadian Jewish studies at Concordia University in Montreal, where he served for nearly a decade as provost and vice-rector.
After graduating with a BA in religion from Carleton, Lightstone received an MA and PhD from Brown University in Rhode Island and was a visiting research graduate fellow at Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1974-75.
The author of six books, Lightstone is widely published in scholarly and professional journals and has lectured extensively. He is an expert on contemporary North American and ancient Judaism.
