A quarterback for four years for the Carleton Ravens, journalist Mark Lee currently provides play-by-play for CBC’s western Canada NHL game every Saturday night. In a long career spanning radio and television journalism, his career highlights include track and field coverage for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2005 Grey Cup.

Turning down offers from the CFL to try out as a defensive back after graduation, Lee — who worked in radio while pursuing his degree — took a news anchor posting in Montreal before becoming a national sports reporter at CBC Radio, where he hosted the sports magazine series The Inside Track. Lee’s documentary reporting earned him two Actra Awards as Best Sportscaster.

Lee has covered women’s hockey, beach and indoor volleyball and cycling at several Olympic and Pan-Am Games. In 1999, he reported on the International Olympic Committee bribery scandal. In 1994, he won a Gemini Award for The Spirit of the Game, a three-part documentary on hockey.
