James LeBlanc is the managing director/Americas for the Unity Resources Group, a service organization that delivers solutions to global risk management and expeditionary support challenges in unpredictable and complex markets.

Previously, LeBlanc was executive director of the American Kuwaiti Alliance, a U.S.-based not-for-profit organization, and before that, the National Democratic Institute’s resident senior country director in Iraq from 2004 to 2006. Under 18 months of intense security, LeBlanc helped oversee two Iraqi elections and one referendum while grooming election monitors, teaching political parties how to get their message out and working to involve more women in Iraqi politics.

After studying law and political science at Carleton, LeBlanc earned a master’s degree from NPSIA. He served as chief of staff to the Secretary of State for External Affairs and International Trade, and the Minister of Science and Technology; and executive assistant to the Office of Canadian Ambassador for International Security and Arms Control.

A seasoned senior business executive with a graduate degree from Harvard, LeBlanc was president of the Washington, DC-based J. LeBlanc International, LLC; a partner in S&H/LeBlanc International, an international public affairs, public relations, media and political consulting firm; and a senior executive in Global Smarts, Inc., a multi-media firm focusing on the globalization of technology, politics, business and policy. He also sits on numerous boards including the Carleton U.S. Foundation.
