Jerry L. Lampert , BA / 69

Prior to his appointment to the British Columbia Treaty Commission in 2007 by the Government of Canada, Jerry Lampert served for 15 years as president and CEO of the Business Council of British Columbia. While there, he guided the association of major employers to build a competitive and growing economy that provides opportunities for all who invest, work and live in the province. A vocal advocate for developing better business relationships with First Nations in British Columbia, Mr. Lampert was instrumental in developing business coalitions on key government initiatives, including the highly effective BC Business Summit process.

Prior to joining the B.C. Business Council in 1993, Mr. Lampert was a principal in a government relations/public affairs consulting firm, offering strategic and tactical advice to private sector corporations in their dealings with governments. He also served as director of the national office of the Canadian Petroleum Association, representing major oil and gas explorers and producers.

A former president of the Carleton University Student Association (1968-69) Mr. Lampert has been active in politics at the provincial (British Columbia and Ontario) and federal levels. He served as chief of staff to two premiers of British Columbia, managed two successful provincial election campaigns in BC, and held many key political organization and advisory positions.

Mr. Lampert’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of the Vancouver Art Gallery and chairing the campaign in support of the British Columbia Institute of Technology Aerospace Technology Campus. He is a member of the Cabinet for the Business Laureates of British Columbia Awards Hall of Fame.
