A native of Nepean, Alison had the unique ability to combine academic excellence with world-class athletic performance. She also has five world championship medals to her name, including back-to-back golds in 1997 and 1998.

Since graduating in 1998 and retiring from rowing in 2000, Alison has had a successful career as a journalist, once traveling with and covering an all-women’s team that skied to the North Pole, and working behind the scenes with CBC Radio and TV Sports.
