Peter Holland , BIB / 98

Peter Holland, an economist focusing on youth and conflict in the Human Development Network at the World Bank, has first-hand experience about life in a conflict zone. After graduating from Carleton with a degree in international business, Holland worked with CEPAL, a small Canadian NGO, while teaching English, French and computers in the refugee camps of Beirut. There he was recruited by Oxfam as director of Oxfam-Quebec’s Middle East office in Jerusalem, where he was responsible for designing and implementing the organization’s humanitarian relief efforts during the Intifada.

After obtaining a master’s in international relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, Holland joined the World Bank where he spends most of his time working on projects in Haiti and Colombia.
