Harry Forestell is host of CBC News: Around the World, a daily half-hour news program that brings together international coverage from CBC foreign correspondents.

Previously, as co-host of CBC News: Morning, Forestell worked in London, England, and was the only host of a North American television morning show stationed outside the continent. Before ‘international editor’ was added to his title in August 2005, Forestell was co-anchoring the morning news show from Toronto.

Forestell has covered a number of the biggest news stories affecting Canadians: he has reported from the Johnson Space Center in Houston on the aftermath of the Columbia space shuttle disaster; from London and Paris on the diplomatic dispute between Europe and the United States over the disarmament of Saddam Hussein’s Iraq; and, in Canada, on the outbreak of SARS and its health and economic consequences for Canada.

Prior to joining CBC News: Morning, Forestell was a national business reporter, providing business and economic stories to CBC News: The National, CBC News: Canada Now, CBC News: Venture and CBC Newsworld.

In 1997, Forestell joined Newsworld Business News when it launched, serving as NBN’s European correspondent. In that role, he travelled across Europe preparing special reports for CBC News, including a comprehensive series on the launch of the European single currency. In the summer of 1999, Forestell moved back to Canada to become Newsworld Morning’s business anchor, a position he held for more than two years.
