A member of the Carleton’s Board of Governors for more than 10 years, David Dunn served as chair of the Board and of the executive, building, and joint presidential search committees. No stranger to leadership, he is a former president of the Carleton University Students’ Association.

“Carleton shaped my life, opened doors and taught me, both through academics and campus life, how to follow my passion, tap creative energies and have fun,” he says.

An employee of Nortel since 1979, Dunn directs workplace planning, innovation and construction—in short, he manages the company’s national and international physical space, including a major new campus in Beijing, and world headquarters in Toronto.

Certified by the Ontario Association of Architects and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Dunn directs projects throughout the world for Nortel from his home office, situated in a Rideau Valley woodland garden which he opens to the public. Dunn’s gardening hobby blossomed into Rideau Woodland Ramble, a garden centre named one of Canada’s best destination nurseries in 2005.
