Paul Correy , BEng / 74

Paul Correy has been an amazingly committed volunteer with the Carleton University Alumni Association since 1991. He combined his dedication to Carleton and his passion for hockey to score some lofty goals.

Mr. Correy graduated in 1974. Strangely enough, his role at Carleton, post-graduation, required more involvement than ever before. Coinciding with Paul’s graduation, Carleton’s Men’s Varsity Hockey was suspended and since then Paul has been lobbying to bring it back.

In 1991, after an enormous amount of time and effort on Paul’s part, Carleton’s men’s club team was launched. With momentum gaining, Paul started working even harder to bring varsity hockey back to Carleton. His commitment to the team, and the cause, can be traced through his roles as a coach, general manager, fundraiser and, of course, the team’s number one fan.

Recently, his work has been paying off in ways even Paul couldn’t have imagined. Carleton is now home to the brand new Ice House, a $13-million facility that houses two state-of-the-art NHL-sized rinks. It was also recently announced that men’s varsity hockey will return to Carleton in the fall of 2007. Paul’s tireless efforts have been further recognized as he was named by the CUAA as the Volunteer of the Year.

These accomplishments will ensure that current and future Carleton students receive the best possible university experience.

When Mr. Correy is not volunteering his time or playing hockey, he can be found running his company Correy and Associates Inc. The company was formed in 1985 to offer management services and investment analysis in the oil and gas and precious metal sectors.
