
Perhaps the best-known member of Carleton’s Sock’n’Buskin theatre troupe, Dan Aykroyd enjoys a career on stage, screen and film. He left Carleton, after studying sociology and criminology, to pursue a full time comedy career with Second City. That led him to Saturday Night Live, where Aykroyd’s famous characters Jake Elwood Blues and Beldar Conehead were born. Nominated for an academy award for Driving Miss Daisy, Aykroyd’s more than 60 films include Ghostbusters, one of the highest grossing comedies of all time.
Aykroyd, who is a co-founding investor in House Of Blues Entertainment Inc., is also an investor in the Canadian wine industry.
Aykroyd received the Order of Canada in 1999.
