Auger

Named one of the Top 40 Under 40 by the Ottawa Business Journal in 2006, defence lawyer Richard Auger is a partner in Auger Hollingsworth Barristers, practicing in association with Edelson and Associates.

Called to the Bar in 1997, Auger’s litigation career began primarily in the area of professional malpractice defence in Toronto, and his criminal practice developed alongside two of Canada’s leading criminal practitioners, Eddie Greenspan and Michael Edelson. He handles all aspects of criminal law, from bail hearings and reviews to preliminary inquiries, trials and appeals. He has appeared at all levels of court in Ontario, including as successful counsel at the Ontario Court of Appeal.

At two high-profile public inquiries, Auger acted for clients appearing before Mr. Justice Gomery’s Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program and the Toronto Computer Leasing Inquiry.

Auger is a member of the Criminal Defence Lawyers Association and the Defence Counsel Association of Ottawa. He received his LL.B. in 1995 from the University of Ottawa.
